Could the be another year for firsts?

Around this same time last September, the execs of basic cable were thrilled to see one of their own finally win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series (Mad Men). Meanwhile, producers of reality fare saw an award given to one of their hosts (Jeff Probst). So which other category could be covered during this round? Animation.

For the first time since 1961 (when The Flintstones were still on air), an animated program has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. So will Family Guy finally go where The Simpsons has never gone before? Not if the six other contenders have anything to say about it!

Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer Clash on Daily Show


After a week-long media battle, in which anchors from several different networks weighed in, and Jim Cramer enjoy a much-anticipated meeting on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.

Stewart has recently focused on many of Cramer’s predictions and bits of advice, which he provides through his CNBC show Mad Money.

“I understand that you want to make finance entertaining, but it’s not a [expletive deleted] game,” Stewart sassed Cramer near the top of the interview. “I can’t reconcile the brilliance and knowledge that you have of the intricacies of the market with the crazy [expletive deleted] I see you do every night,” he said a few minutes later.

We are fans of The Daily Show for reasons like this - only Jon Stewart can get this type of reaction from powerful mogul like Jeff Bezos. Comedy Central Hosts Return

Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart TV (and ) got a boost Monday night with the return of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of . Absent from TV since November 1, 2007, both hosts winged it on-air without their writers, and neither was afraid to comment on the current scriptless situation. But even with these valiant efforts, viewers didn’t see the same shows they’re used to.

It’s been pondered for weeks now, and finally the question has been answered. How will Comedy Central’s two late night shows fare without writers? For these first episodes back, both hosts talked about the at length, each interviewing experts on labor relations and unions. , who has a background in stand-up comedy, seemed as relaxed and at home as ever on stage, though he referred to the present as “uncomfortable circumstances.” Stewart also announced a name change for the show, to be in effect for the duration of the strike: ‘A Daily Show’.

One Colbert Nation Under All?

Stephen ColbertDaily Show fans got a surprise treat this week when Stephen Colbert rode in on a wagon pulled by Uncle Sam. This, on an episode already promising prestigious actress Meryl Streep. Colbert pulled out a bale of hay and kicked back to enjoy a brew he produced from within, accepting a huge round of applause from studio fans. It was ’s show that launched Colbert’s success, eventually leading to a spinoff and the birth of the Colbert Nation (the nickname given to Colbert fans).  Colbert gave Stewart a note card containing questions he wanted asked, then surprised fans with his official announcement to officially consider whether – or not – he was going to run for the office of the President of the United States of America. Colbert added that he hoped to make the announcement of his decision on a more prestigious show. Fifteen minutes later, on , he did.
